Cork has been named in a group of 14 European cities to share in a £45m EU project aimed at developing clean and efficient public transport networks.

A total of 74 cities were bidding for the funding, but assessors whittled them down to just 14.

Cork's project will focus on improving facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.

This will include the development of bicycle and walking routes and a 40% increase in cycle storage facilities.
