Bail application for Real IRA accused adjourned

The Special Criminal Court has adjourned a bail hearing by alleged Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt.

The Special Criminal Court has adjourned a bail hearing by alleged Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt.

51-year-old Mr McKevitt from Blackrock, Dundalk, Co Louth, was charged last Friday with membership of an illegal organisation.

He was also the first person to be charged with directing the activities of such a group.

Lawyers for the accused said they were unable to proceed with the bail application today and the matter was adjourned until April 24.
