Beverly Cooper-Flynn is to attend a meeting of the Fianna Fail parliamentary party later this morning.

Despite facing costs of £2m for her failed libel action and mounting calls for her resignation, she is refusing to quit the party.

The Mayo TD is to put her case to her parliamentary colleagues and is also expected to call on Fianna Fail members to support her as she decides whether or not to pursue an appeal in her libel action.

Yesterday, in a statement, Ms Cooper-Flynn said it was inappropriate to meet with party officials prior to such a decision but Fianna Fail sources say that they are now hopeful that she has reassessed this decision and will meet with party chairman Rory O'Hanlon and Chief Whip Seamus Brennan before the 11.30am meeting.
