Internet giant Google has accepted it trespassed by taking a photo of a US couple’s home for its Street View service.

But the company will pay only $1 (76c) in damages.

US District Magistrate Judge Cathy Bissoon signed a consent judgment in Pittsburgh today.

A Google spokeswoman told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the resolution is limited to the Pennsylvania case and that they will not stop taking photos.

Aaron and Christine Boring sued two years ago. They say Google’s images of their home were taken from their long driveway, which is a private road.

The couple’s lawyer says Google has “conceded liability as an intentional trespasser”, which was the point of the lawsuit.
