Police in the North are investigating an arson attack which claimed the life of a man in north Belfast early this morning.

The emergency services were called to the scene in Woodvale Avenue at around 12.30am.

One man was rescued from the burning building, but a second was trapped inside and died.

The PSNI said the fire was "definitely" caused by an arson attack.

A spokesman said detectives were trying to establish a motive for the attack.
