Gardaí at Spiddal are investigating a fatal road traffic accident that occurred at approximately 1am this morning.

Gardaí at Spiddal are investigating a fatal road traffic accident that occurred at approximately 1am this morning.

A male pedestrian in his 30s was struck by a car on the R336 at Salahoona, Spiddal, Co Galway.

Death was pronounced at scene and the deceased was removed to University College Hospital Galway.

The road remains closed at present to facilitate a forensic examination and diversions are in place.
