Dean Marney has signed a new three-year deal with Hull that will keep him at the KC Stadium until 2012.

The midfielder, who has played in all but one of City’s Premier League games this season, was signed by former manager Phil Parkinson from Tottenham in 2006 for a then club-record fee.

Marney told the club website, www.hullcityafc.co.uk: “My initial deal was due to be up next summer, so it’s nice to get things sorted out and now I can just concentrate on trying to stay in the team.

“There was never any doubt that I wanted to stay. We’re a Premier League club and I would be mad to think about leaving.

“I’m settled here now and I’m enjoying my football.”

Marney began his career as a trainee at Spurs, scoring two goals in 11 appearances, before enjoying loan spells at Swindon, QPR, Gillingham and Norwich.

He has made nearly 100 appearances for the Tigers and last season helped them gain promotion to the top flight for the first time in their history.
