Man found unconscious in Garda station

A man in his 40s is in a serious condition in hospital in Cork after being found unconscious this morning in a Garda station in Co Kerry.

A man in his 40s is in a serious condition in hospital in Cork after being found unconscious this morning in a Garda station in Co Kerry.

The man had been detained in Tralee shortly after midnight for public order offences.

Gardaí who checked on the man at around 9am this morning in a cell were unable to rouse him.

He was taken to Kerry General Hospital before being transferred to the University College Hospital in Cork.

The incident has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman's Office.
