Two-thirds of Internet users who download music do not care whether they are breaking copyright laws, according to a new survey in the United States.

Two-thirds of Internet users who download music do not care whether they are breaking copyright laws, according to a new survey in the United States.

The Pew Internet and American Life Project said about 35 million American adults use file-sharing software, about 29% of Internet users.

“Our data shows significant numbers did not care about copyrights,” said Lee Rainie, director of the Washington-based project.

The survey showed younger Americans aged 18 to 29 were least worried about copyrights, with 72% saying they were not concerned.

It said 61% of Americans aged 30 to 49 were similarly unconcerned.

Full time students were the least concerned with violating copyright laws , with 82% saying they were not worried.
