Last July, the PAWS Animal Rescue centre in Mullinahone, Co Tipperary, rescued a dog that was so traumatised that she couldn't pry her face from the wall of her kennel.
It turned out that Cara, a sight hound (a type of dog that includes greyhounds which relies on its sight, not scent, to navigate the world) was showing signs of anxiety brought on, according to her rescuers, by years of severe abuse.
The rescue centre released footage last summer of Cara in her kennel shortly after she was saved, with the caption: "WHAT had made her like this ??? There are some nasty evil Bas***ds out there."
As you can see, she manages a few quick glances, but mainly keeps her head pressed into the corner.
Happily, since then it seems Cara has come on in leaps and bounds and she has now found a home with Michael and Theresa McGrath.
She's found a pal there and they love to make lots of noise.
Go for it girl!
