The hunt is continuing for Osama bin Laden amid fears the terror mastermind has fled Afghanistan.

Opposition forces have claimed victory over al-Qaida fighters at the Tora Bora cave complex, the Taliban’s final stronghold.

It is now presumed bin Laden went across the border into Pakistan.

US Secretary of State Colin Powell has admitted the US does not know where he is.

In a statement to the press at the White House Colin Powell said: "The best bet is he is still in Afghanistan trying to avoid our military forces, however we can not ignore the fact that he might have gotten out.

"But as President Bush says we will get him whether it takes one day, one week or two years."
