At least seven people are feared dead in a bomb blast in a Jerusalem pizza parlour today.

After the blast, bodies were lying in the window of the city centre Sbarro restaurant which had been packed at lunchtime.

The restaurant is located at the junction of Jaffa Road and King George Street, one of the busiest street corners in Jerusalem.

More than 20 people were injured.

Police said it was not immediately clear whether the blast was caused by a bomb that was placed in the restaurant, or by a suicide bomber.

Radio reports said however, that the blast was the work of a female suicide bomber who died in the blast.

Ambulances rushed to the scene and police closed off surrounding streets, fearing more explosive devices could be in the area.

The militant Hamas group has made repeated attempts in recent days to send suicide bombers into Israel.
