Govt documents to be released after five years

Official Government documents are to be made available in the public arena after five years under the Freedom of Information Act.

Official Government documents are to be made available in the public arena after five years under the Freedom of Information Act.

The Ombudsman and Information Commissioner, Kevin Murphy, announces the move in today's edition of the Public Affairs Ireland magazine.

Previously, documents of this nature were only released after a lapse of 30 years.
