China is reportedly keen to grow vegetables on the Moon and Mars.

According to a researcher at Beijing's Chinese Astronaut Research and Training Centre, there are plans to grow the health food in an out-of-space allotment using the two planets as a base.

Researchers in the Chinese capital city have already branded the Moon and Mars as the "ecological life support system".

It is thought vegetables are wanted to be used for meals during space missions.
