Gardaí have said a large crowd which gathered outside a facility for ex-convicts in search of rapist Larry Murphy last night dispersed in the early hours of this morning.

Around 60 protestors shouted "get him out" outside Priorswood House in Coolock in North Dublin, despite the fact that gardaí and staff there assured them that Larry Murphy wasn't inside.

Mr Murphy was released yesterday after serving 10 and a half years of a 15-year sentence for the rape and attempted murder of a Carlow businesswoman.

The father of two, who was questioned about the disapearance of a number of women during the 1990's, has seven days before he is required to inform gardaí of his address.
