The European Central Bank is widely expected to lower its interest rates later today.

The bank's governing council meets at lunchtime, with experts predicting they will impose the second cut in as many months.

The rate is currently at 1.25%t, and speculation is centring on a quarter point cut, with some estimating it could be as much as 0.5%.
