A solitary Paddy Madden goal ensured Bohemians will face St. Patrick’s Athletic in an all-Dublin final of the Setanta Sports Cup, almost certainly at Tallaght Stadium, on May 15.

Bohs, 2-1 up from the first leg at Dalymount, had the ideal start at Windsor Park with what proved the only goal of the game after just five minutes.

Man of the match Paul Keegan’s ball over the top caught Blues’ square at the back and striker Madden raced away to shoot past Alan Blayney.

Blayney then made a terrific one-handed save from a Raffaele Cretaro header on 21 minutes as Linfield struggled to get into the game.

The Blues were better in the second half and they finally began to pressure the Bohs goal.

Madden cleared off the line, via the crossbar, from a Michael Gault header on 50 minutes.

A minute later, Barry Murphy got down well to make a good save from Robert Garrett’s deflected shot.

Linfield continued to press and Paul Munster fired wide from Peter Thompson’s flick before defender Willie Murphy volleyed past a post on 72 minutes.

But Bohs held firm to book their place in the decider.
