SDLP accuses DUP of seeking majority rule

The SDLP has accused the Democratic Unionist Party of trying to return to the days of majority rule in the North.

The SDLP has accused the Democratic Unionist Party of trying to return to the days of majority rule in the North.

SDLP leader Mark Durkan was speaking at Government buildings in advance of a meeting with the Taoiseach.

Next week, all-party talks on the stalled Northern Assembly take place in England. Mr Durkan said: “ The DUP are trying to retro-fit majority rule onto the agreement.

"That's what it is about. They are trying to come up with devices that will mean that a unionist majority in the assembly can simply say to any nationalist minster of their choosing.”
