Gormley: 'New constituency boundaries will stand'

Minister for Environment John Gormley has said the changes to constituency boundaries announced yesterday will be implemented.

Minister for Environment John Gormley has said the changes to constituency boundaries announced yesterday will be implemented.

Under the reforms announced by the Boundary Commission, some constituencies will lose seats and others will gain due to population changes in recent years.

Some politicians have complained about losses in areas like Leitrim and Limerick.

However, Mr Gormley says the Boundary Commission is an independent body and there can be no political interference with its decisions.
