Dublin Airport closed tonight after an aircraft coming into land reported flames on board.

Dublin Airport closed tonight after an aircraft coming into land reported flames on board.

The fire at the rear of the Iberia aircraft was put out by Dublin Airport fire crew after it landed safely shortly before 8pm.

All 97 passengers and six crew members en route from Barcelona were evacuated from the plane safely.

“The Iberia plane was arriving from Barcelona, it developed a fire at the very rear of the aircraft,” said a spokeswoman for the Dublin Airport Authority. “It necessitated a full evacuation of the aircraft.”

The authority confirmed flights at the airport were suspended temporarily but were restored after the fire was safely put out.
