Rare white lions born in Germany

Two rare white lions have been born in Germany.

They were born at the Safaripark in Stukenbrock and are part of the only breeding programme for white lions in Europe.

They are number 10 and 11 in the programme, founded in 1996 by the director Fritz Wurms, and the illusionists Siegfried and Roy from Las Vegas.

Only 50 white lions remain in the world because their colour makes it difficult to survive in the wilderness.

White lions were discovered for the first time in 1987 in South Africa.
