Two separate investigations are underway into the sinking of two trawlers off the Waterford coast.

The probes are being carried out by the Marine Casualty Investigation Board.

The two vessels went down within hours of each other on Wednesday night / Thursday morning.

The Pere Charles sank with five crew aboard, all of whom are feared drowned.

While the Honey Dew II, which operated out of Kinsale, went down with four crewmen, two of whom are still missing.

Bad weather is now hampering the search operation, and it is feared it may be days before the water is calm enough for a dive to be carried out.
