Fernando Torres made his first start for AC Milan last night and although it is early days there were promising signs of a return to form for the struggling Spanish striker.
Torres joined Milan on a two-year loan deal last month from Chelsea, after the Blues set a British transfer record when they paid Liverpool £50m for the striker in January 2011.
Torres never settled at the club and, although he was part of their Champions League success in 2012, he managed just 20 goals in 110 league appearances.
The striker took two months to score his first goal for Chelsea, but had no such problems last night, netting his first for his new club with a brilliantly taken header.
The goal wasn’t the only positive moment - he also produced this moment of sublime skill during the game, swerving and weaving to wrongfoot his marker.
“I’m thrilled to have scored,” Torres said after the match.
“I am happy and I’m gaining confidence. Of course, you can always do better.”
Milan fans will be hoping it’s not a one-off performance and the World Cup winner really does have his mojo back.
