Ferdy Murphy is convinced Leading Man has bright prospects of a repeat victory in the skybet.com Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby on St Stephen's Day.

The seven-year-old gelding beat Sir Rembrandt by eight lengths last year and will bid to bounce back after being pulled up in the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle three weeks ago.

“He had a dirty scope after running poorly in the Rehearsal Chase, but he’s had medication and looks good now,” said the West Witton trainer.

“The vet passed him on Monday, he’s been doing some work and he looks spot on. He seems to like Wetherby, and the way last year’s race was run also suited him.

“He stays well, and I couldn’t be happier with him. The ground won’t be an issue and I’m as confident as I was coming into the race last year.”
