US President George W Bush is to make a brief refuelling stop at Shannon Airport today as he returns to the United States following his visit to Europe.

US President George W Bush is to make a brief refuelling stop at Shannon Airport today as he returns to the United States following his visit to Europe.

Security is tight for the stopover, but it is not known if the President and First Lady Laura Bush will leave their plane.

Mr Bush has spent the past few days in Europe to mark the 60th anniversary of the defeat of the Nazis in May 1945.
