Independent TD Sean Conlan has been remanded on bail, after appearing in court in connection with an alleged assault in his family pub in Co Monaghan in August.

Independent TD Sean Conlan has been remanded on bail, after appearing in court in connection with an alleged assault in his family pub in Co Monaghan in August.

Deputy Conlan, who recently resigned from Fine Gael, faces charges of assault causing harm and the production of an article during a dispute on August 23 in the premises in Ballybay.

He was arrested by arrangement this morning and appeared at Carrickmacross District Court.

Sean Conlan was released on bail on his own bond of €100, to appear in court again on January 27.
