'X Factor' musical 'not flattering' to Cowell

Harry Hill's 'X Factor' musical is "not flattering" to Simon Cowell.

The comic is working on a stage production based on the TV talent show and admits he was wary of pitching the story to the music mogul because it pokes fun at his famous high-waisted trousers.

Harry said: "I had to go and pitch it to Simon Cowell which was interesting because its not entirely flattering - we discover for instance, why he wears his belt so high up!

"Did you know the real reason? When he was a child, he was a victim of bullies who used give him a wedgey the whole time, so he found the only way to avoid the wedgey was to have the [high trousers]…"

Harry is delighted with the progress he has made with the production, and hopes it will open in spring 2014.

Speaking on ITV1's 'This Morning', he said: "I think it's going to open in spring 2014, we're hoping. It's all about getting in a theatre and getting the whole show in shape.

"But we've been doing a lot of work on it - we've got a script and we did some workshops just last week funnily enough with all these great, really funny songs…"
