Murder investigation after man shot dead

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was killed in an overnight shooting, and two other people, including a 12-year-old boy, were injured.

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was killed in an overnight shooting, and two other people, including a 12-year-old boy, were injured.

The incident happened shortly after midnight at Collery Drive, Cranmore, Sligo.

Gardaí said the man, 39, was taken to Sligo General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A garda spokesman said: “A 12-year-old male and a 44-year-old male were also injured in this incident and both were taken to Sligo General Hospital.

“The injuries to both of these males are not believed to be life threatening.

“The scene at Collery Drive has been preserved for technical examination and the State Pathologist has been informed,” he said.
