Experienced strikers Paul Keegan and Trevor Molloy scored the goals to put St. Patrick’s into the cup final as Rovers' youngsters got no reward for a spirited display at Tolka Park.

Rovers’ bright start, in which Padraig Amond hit the outside of a post, counted for little as they fell behind on 18 minutes.

Michael Foley’s ball forward picked out Keegan and he beat Barry Murphy from a tight angle with a first time shot.

Rovers chased the game hard throughout the second half, but Saints struck to kill them off on 86 minutes.

Dave Mulcahy and Chris Armstrong worked the ball through to Molloy and, one-on-one with the keeper, he beat Murphy with a low shot off his left foot to put Saints through to the final on December 3 where they'll meet the winner's of Sunday's second semi-final between Sligo Rovers and Derry City.
