The ASTI has written to the Taoiseach asking for direct talks with the Government to try and prevent their planned industrial action.

ASTI General Secretary Charlie Lennon said the union made clear in its recent submission to the Labour Court that repeating the offer of the PPF and the benchmarking process would not resolve the issue.

He repeated that teachers are seeking significant increases in pay to bring their salary into line with other professionals.
