The Green Party has announced that promoting strategic planning and affordable housing will be its key priorities in the new Dáil term.

The party also said today that it wanted to revolutionise renewable energy and public transport, to change the out-dated social welfare model, to focus on pre-school and primary education and to concentrate on preventative healthcare.

It said it would support family farms, promote Ireland as a centre of excellence for safe food and promote support for small and medium-sized businesses.

Party leader Trevor Sargent said the Greens hoped to be effective in opposition to set out a policy programme for change.
