The Green Party will today consolidate its opposition to the Treaty of Nice with the launch of its position paper for the upcoming referendum.

The public will go to the polls on Thursday June 7th to vote for or against the agreement, which will lead to the enlargement of the European Union and provide a rapid reaction force.

The Green MEP for Dublin, Patricia McKenna, said the fact that Ireland is the only country putting the treaty to a referendum proves that democracy across Europe is crumbling.
