Exporters say it is getting almost impossible for many of them to trade in the UK.
The recession there means there is less demand for their goods and services.
John Whelan, Chief Executive of the Irish Exporters Association, said they have also been hit by the fall in the value of sterling.
“Trying to trade at these levels for Irish exporters is now impossible for a large proportion of them,” he said.
