Crisis talks between psychiatric nurses and the HSE on compensation for nurses attacked while on duty will resume this afternoon.

Crisis talks between psychiatric nurses and the HSE on compensation for nurses attacked while on duty will resume this afternoon.

The talks adjourned without agreement in the early hours of this morning.

Wards in a number of psychiatric facilities around the country have been forced to close as nurses continue to operate a ban on overtime in protest at the current compensation package.

On Friday, unions said that the HSE appeared serious about resolving the difficulty and that the mood was positive.

But the unions say they are sticking to their threat to escalate the industrial action next week if a new deal is not reached.
