The Fine Gael leader has called on the Minister for Justice to set up a specialist Garda Corps to tackle the rise of child pornography and paedophilia.

Enda Kenny was speaking in Cork, where a pornographic image of a schoolgirl was circulated by students using camera phones.

It is believed the picture could have been sent to phones in Cork, Kerry and Limerick.

Deputy Kenny has already called on the Government to make the curbing of child pornography and facilitating research into the causes of paedophilia a critical issue of Ireland's presidency of the EU.
