Beresford reverse for Mofeed

John Oxx’s much-touted Akeed Mofeed just failed to peg back David Livingston in the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh.

John Oxx’s much-touted Akeed Mofeed just failed to peg back David Livingston in the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh.

The red-hot favourite gamely tried to wear down Aidan O’Brien’s charge in the testing conditions.

Seamie Heffernan soon had National Stakes third David Livingston (7-2) at the head of affairs while Akeed Mofeed was untidy coming out of the stalls.

He made up the ground to sit third but floundered in the heavy ground as he got into a barging match when asked for his effort.

Once on an even keel, the 5-6 shot made up ground hand over fist for Johnny Murtagh but could not quite get to the leader and was still half a length down at the line.
