An elderly man has died in a fire at a house near Macroom in Co Cork this morning.

An elderly man has died in a fire at a house near Macroom in Co Cork this morning.

The blaze broke out at around 8am at the house in the Tarelton area.

The cause is unknown, but the scene has been preserved for technical examination.
