Armagh 1-11 Galway 0-04

Armagh got their Division 1B challenge back on track as an early Brian Mallon goal helped them defeat a below-par Galway in Crossmaglen.

Joe Kernan's side - despite shipping the game's first two points to Michael and Noel Meehan - powered clear to a 1-04 to 0-02 lead at the break.

Mallon's scrambled 18th-minute goal was Armagh's first score but it was quickly followed by points from Martin O'Rourke, Kieran McGeeney and Steven McDonnell - who pointed the two frees which saw Galway full-back Kieran Fitzgerald sent to the sin-bin - as Kernan's charges assumed control.

Further points from McDonnell, Mallon and Philip Loughran unsettled Peter Forde's visitors on the restart, although they did have a Derek Savage goal shot saved by Andy Mallon.

Paul McGrane and Gregory Loughran points confirmed the Orchard win.
