Poland and Bulgaria have agreed to re-admit any illegal immigrants who have entered the Republic via either of the two countries.

Refugees from Poland represented the third largest group seeking asylum in Ireland last year.

Ireland has already signed a readmission agreement with Romania, and a similar arrangement with Nigeria is currently under negotiation.
