Armed raiders have struck at a bank in Co Longford this afternoon.

Armed raiders have struck at a bank in Co Longford this afternoon.

Two men raided the Bank of Ireland in Ballymahon. Gardai are searching for a silver Honda Accord with a "03D" registration which was used as the getaway car.

It follows a raid on the AIB in Naas, Co Kildare today when a man with an imitation gun made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

He escaped in a stolen dark Fiat Punto with an "04K" licence plate.
