Victoria Beckham has told a court how an alleged thief stole her luggage containing a treasured baby book with a lock of Brooklyn's hair.

The Spice Girl is the main prosecution witness at Isleworth Crown Court against Mark Oliver who is accused of theft and two counts of handling stolen goods.

Oliver, 20, of Stanwell Village, Stanwell, West London, denies stealing the star's suitcases which contained £1,080 worth of clothes including a swimming costume and a denim jacket.

The court was told how Oliver stole the pop singer's luggage after she arrived back in London from Miami in April last year.

Inside four missing suitcases were Posh's designer clothes as well as a photograph of herself, her husband David and their son. On the photograph Mr Beckham had written "Happy Valentine's Day" and "Me and Daddy", the jury of nine women and two men heard.

The court was told how the luggage went missing during a transfer from Heathrow Airport to Manchester.

Mrs Kim Hollis, prosecuting, said that one of the Spice Girl's friends was contacted by Oliver who said that he had certain items of her property that he had discovered on the back of his rubbish truck.

Oliver allegedly left a mobile phone number with Mrs Beckham's friend and the entertainer then contacted the defendant. The court was told that Oliver allegedly told the singer to ring him back and that he would go to the rubbish tip to see if he could find any more of her property.

Mrs Hollis said: "There then followed a farcical pantomime by this defendant pretending to Victoria Beckham that he was at the rubbish tip looking for the photos.

"The Crown allege this was a pantomime for he had possession of the photos at his parents' house."

The court was told how police later recovered items of Mrs Beckham's clothing and other property at Oliver's parents' home in his sister's wardrobe.
