West Ham survived the controversial dismissal of Paul Konchesky to bank another Barclays Premiership point at Newcastle.

The full-back was dismissed for a 55th-minute foul on Jermaine Jenas as he ran in on goal, although he appeared to win the ball.

Hammers goalkeeper Roy Carroll, who saved from Charles N’Zogbia and Jenas before the break, kept out an Alan Shearer free-kick and substitute Lee Clark’s 67th-minute effort as the Magpies laboured after Celestine Babayaro had to hack Yossi Benayoun’s shot off the line before the break.
