Haydock have called an 11am inspection for Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s meeting.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright admits plenty of improvement is needed if the meeting is to go ahead and he will take an early opportunity to assess the conditions.

“There is a thaw happening around that time so we will take stock,” he said.

“There is a lot of work to do though as the frost is well into the ground and there is snow on the covers.

“It has been bitterly cold and warm air is forecast to move in on Tuesday. If it could come in a day early that would help, but I wouldn’t hold out much hope at present.”
