Rangers trail at break in crucial qualifier

Rangers 0 Lyon 1

Rangers 0 Lyon 1

Rangers chances of making the knockout stages of the Champions League were looking slim as they fell behind to Lyon in a difficult first half at Ibrox.

The Light Blues, needing only a draw to reach the last 16, struggled against the classy French champions, who were out to avenge their 3-0 defeat at home to the Scots side earlier in the campaign.

After missing a good chance in the third minute, Sidney Govou was on hand in the 15th minute to drive home the opener from 10 yards after Allan McGregor had parried an angled drive from Karim Benzema.
