Labour rules out SF and PDs as possible Govt partners

The Labour Party has ruled out Sinn Féin and the Progressive Democrats as potential coalition partners after the upcoming election.

The Labour Party has ruled out Sinn Féin and the Progressive Democrats as potential coalition partners after the upcoming election.

Party spokesman Eamon Gilmore said today that Labour was putting forward an alternative to the current coalition and could not envisage any scenario in which the PDs would be part of this alternative.

He also said Sinn Féin was not a viable coalition partners due to its confusing stance on economics, but said Labour and Fine Gael would be happy to join forces with the Greens if needs be.
