British singer Damon Albarn is thrilled with the anonymity he enjoys as a member of animated band Gorillaz, because he has been able to reinvent himself.
The star collaborated with illustrator Jamie Hewitt to create the animated group - and insists he is "loads happier" now that he has moved away from his previous incarnation as the frontman of guitar band Blur.
He says: "(Gorillaz are) essentially anonymous for most people. It doesn't feel like that in Britain. But everywhere else I go, when people ask what I do, I say: 'I'm a musician, I'm Gorillaz.'
"They go: 'Oh, you're the guy!' People don't really know white British art rock that much around the world."
