Wayne Rooney ended his goal famine with a superb hat-trick to propel Manchester United back to the top of the Barclays Premiership.

The England striker scored in the 10th, 15th and 89th minutes to rattle Bolton's previously mean defence at the Reebok Stadium.

It was Rooney's first goals in 11 games - and Cristiano Ronaldo also found the target in an emphatic victory.
