At least four people were killed when a bomb exploded in a busy market area of a southern town, police in Nepal said today.

At least four people were killed when a bomb exploded in a busy market area of a southern town, police in Nepal said today.

Officers said the explosion happened in Janakpur during the morning rush-hour.

Ten other people were injured, but details were sketchy.

Police are investigating the blast but confirmed it was a bomb.

The town is about 125 miles (200km)) south-east of the capital, Kathmandu.
