The European Union has placed republican and loyalist paramilitary groups on a list of organisations and individuals it accuses of supporting terrorism.

The Real IRA, the Continuity IRA, the Loyalist Volunteer Force, the Orange Volunteers, the Red Hand Defenders and the Ulster Defence Association/Ulster Freedom Fighters were all included on the list, alongside the likes of Basque separatist group ETA and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The list contains 12 organisations and 30 individuals, but some of the names will remain classified to allow police to act against them more efficiently.
