Internet garage to answer car part questions

Frustrated motorists struggling to find a car part were offered a helping hand today with the launch of a new online database.

Frustrated motorists struggling to find a car part were offered a helping hand today with the launch of a new online database.

The internet car part finder service MicksGarage.ie aims to save car owners time and money by answering car part queries and linking them up with local suppliers.

Motorists can post questions about their car on the website and get a response from car breaker yards and dealers in their area.

Ciaran Crean, managing director of the site, said it also allows users to get the best prices for both new and used car parts which can be bought from local motor trade contacts.

“Our website receives many car part requests from motorists each day, some for product ranges which we don’t sell, items such as engines, alloys, gear boxes, etc,” he said.

“We decided to try and put the customer in touch with somebody in their local area who might sell these parts, and so we developed the 'Car Part Finder' service linking up motorists with our database of contacts from the motor trade.”

The system is regularly updated with part requests and reminder emails are sent to the motor trade on a daily basis.

The online car parts retailer said it took the decision to set up the database because of the huge number of requests it receives for parts it does not sell.
